EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer will not play against the New York Giants on Sunday because of a shoulder injury. Palmer, who was limited at practice all week, will be replaced by Drew Stanton, an eight-year veteran who has four career starts. Palmer threw two fourth-quarter touchdowns in the season opener Monday night to rally the Cardinals over San Diego. He was 24 of 37 for 304 yards with a 108.4 quarterback rating. The 34-year-old started all 16 games for Arizona last season. Palmer threw for a career-high 4,274 yards with 24 touchdowns and 22 interceptions. Stanton has not appeared in an NFL game since 2010 with the Lions. The former Michigan State product was 69 of 119 for 780 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. The 30-year-old ran for 113 and another score. Rookie Logan Thomas, a fourth-draft draft pick out of Virginia Tech, will back up Stanton.
